“The Project Management Certificate, paired with my Red Seal certification, advanced my career as a planner."
After working as a journeyman steamfitter/pipefitter for 8 years, Chris began exploring new learning opportunities. NAIT’s Project Management Certificate proved to be the ideal stepping stone for his career advancement.
When he graduated with his steamfitter/pipefitter ticket in 2009, Chris Postill knew he would return to NAIT to achieve his Blue Seal certification. While registering for the fifth Blue Seal module, he read about the Project Management Certificate offered through NAIT's Productivity Enhancement Services. Chris had another reason to return to NAIT. “I thought this certificate would look great on my résumé,” he says.
Chris had established his own consulting business to contract out trade skills. When one of the companies he worked with learned he had a Project Management Certificate, Chris “went from pipefitter to project coordinator.”
NAIT's part-time Project Management Certificate, paired with his journeyman ticket, opened doors to a promotion. Chris is now a mechanical planner and uses his skills to help grow a part-time consulting business.
Project coordination involves scheduling, turnarounds and other responsibilities that contribute to the successful completion of projects. “It all stems from having the Project Management Certificate.”
This certification, together with his trade skills and experience, has enabled Chris to advance his career as a mechanical planner and grow his consulting business.
“If you’re looking for skills to take on new opportunities, the Project Management Certificate is an excellent place to start.”
