“NAIT’s Computer Training Centre introduced the latest techniques for business analytics and provided valuable networking opportunities.”
As a business intelligence analyst with the Alberta Motor Association (AMA), Ivy recognized that a certificate in Business Intelligence and Analytics would up her game.
Ivy Zhang started as a workforce analyst with AMA in 2013 after graduating with a bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta. It was not long before she saw the opportunities that the burgeoning field of data analytics presented.
An online search led her to NAIT’s JR Shaw School of Business and the Business Intelligence and Analytics Certificate offered through the Computer Training Centre.
“NAIT instructors provided real-world scenarios in which we had to come up with solutions using the skills and techniques learned in class.”
Ivy knows that data analytics is a growing industry. She needed hands-on skills and training to complement her university degree and elevate her career. The Business Intelligence and Analytics Certificate prepared her for a new career with her current employer Alberta Motor Association.
Ivy completed the six-month certificate in 2015 and was soon promoted to business industry intelligence analyst with AMA.
Gathering information from clients and working with the IT team at AMA, Ivy develops detailed analytical reports for planning, monitoring and analyzing internal processes.
Ivy says the course is perfect for individuals seeking to enhance their careers or looking at career options. The Business Intelligence and Analytics Certificate is also a pathway to a masters in data sciences.
