Working as a labourer with the City of Edmonton Utility Services, Nikita saw firsthand the versatility of journeyman millwrights. These were skills she wanted.
Nikita Marcoux-Mansbridge is in her second year as an apprentice Millwright.
Her apprenticeship journey began as a labourer with the City of Edmonton Utility Services. Employed alongside journeyman millwrights as they conducted maintenance and repairs for sewer and storm water systems, Nikita was inspired.
At the suggestion of a co-worker she enrolled in NAIT’s Continuing Education Millwright Fundamentals courses. This gave Nikita the upper edge when she began preparing for the City’s apprentice application examination. She had a solid understanding of what was expected of the first year Millwright apprenticeship.
Nikita’s goal was simple: to work with her hands, not in an office. She enrolled in NAIT’s Continuing Education Millwright Fundamentals courses. They gave Nikita the skills essential to secure an apprenticeship spot with the City of Edmonton. She is well on her way to a stellar career in the trades.

Nikita says the Continuing Education Millwright and Job Readiness courses give applicants an advantage when competing for apprenticeship positions.

Once she earns her Millwright journeyman ticket, Nikita hopes take on leadership role. To ready herself, she plans to enrol in NAIT leadership courses.
