Maker Space AV Sound Editing Booths
Did you know that NAIT’s Library Services has two sound booths?
Some students have been hard at work using our sound booths to record interviews and create podcasts, but Eduardo Lara and Adam Posavec dialed it up a notch for their Communications course. The two created a feature video about the Digital Media and Information Technology program, relying on the sound booths for creating, editing and synchronizing the accompanying narration. Unwilling to settle for less-than-best, the pair recorded and re-recorded dialogue until it met their standards. An effort made possible by our in-house Makerspace.
Eduardo also drew on his skills by helping a budding film-maker friend. Taking the raw film, Eduardo not only created a soundtrack for it, but also adjusted the colours and hues of the film. Frame-by-frame editing is possible in the Makerspace, a technological luxury that is still beyond the consumer market.
Our Makerspace allows students the opportunity to self-learn and gain expertise with industry quality software and hardware. Skills that will serve them well when they leave NAIT.
“All the tools you need are right here,” says Eduardo.
