What is the typical starting salary range for graduates of this program?
NAIT publishes findings and research regarding graduate placement rates and salaries. For the most current studies and surveys, visit the NAIT Institutional Research Website.
If I receive a diploma in this program, do I have to work in a bank?
No. Graduates of this program work in many different organizations, large and small. Employment in financial and investment services is a preferred choice.
Can I enter directly from high school?
The first two semesters of the Business Administration - Finance program are prerequisites for the last two semesters. Admission to Semesters 1 and 2 as a full-time student is possible by applying to Business Administration - Year 1. Students who complete Semesters 1 and 2 are then eligible for transfer to Semesters 3 and 4 of the Business Administration - Finance program. Students can complete Semesters 1 and 2 through NAIT's Continuing Education courses. These students apply directly to the associate chair or program chair for admission into Semesters 3 and 4.
What are some equivalent courses in other institutions?
Generally, post-secondary institutions in Alberta identify transferability among institutions in the Alberta Transfer Guide. Post-secondary coursework from other post-secondary institutions—within and outside of Canada—may require evaluation by a third party. All requests must be done through the program chair.
No, there isn't. However, there are quotas and limits for full-time student enrolment.
What marks are required in courses?
Courses are graded using the alpha grading system or pass/fail. D is considered a pass. However, student course marks and overall averages are extremely important. Some employers recruit prospective employees based on academic performance. In addition, those who wish to use this program's courses towards another program in this or another institution must have a minimum average of C or C+.
Will the program accept students who are missing one or more courses from Semesters 1 and 2?
Yes, as long as the prerequisites are met. Missing Year 1 courses requires timetable adjustments. The student will need additional time and money (tuition) to successfully complete the program.
No.
Do I need a computer as a student in the program?
No. Any coursework requiring the use of a computer is scheduled in NAIT computer labs. However, access to a computer outside of NAIT does offer students flexibility.
