Business Management Certificate

Program Model / Completion Requirements

This demanding and intensive program can be completed in either of two formats - two 13-week sessions (BMCP10 and BMCP20) that run on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, or ten 16-hour weekend modules of the student’s choice. In both cases, a written examination is administered at the end of each module or topic; a final percentage course grade is awarded.

 

Instruction will emphasize the practical aspects of solving typical business problems by the study and application of current business practices.

 

Class activities include:

  • case studies
  • simulations
  • problem solving
  • microcomputer applications
  • group analysis and discussions

Certification

There are 3 possible certificate options in the Business Management Certificate Program.

 

1. Business Management Certificate - General Management. Choose one of the following routes:

  • BMCP10 and BMCP20
  • BMCP10 and any 5 Weekend College Modules
  • BMCP20 and any 5 Weekend College Modules
  • Any 10 Weekend College Modules

 

2. Business Management Certificate - Small Business

  • 5 compulsory BMCP Modules (BMCP924 Starting Your Own Business, BMCP907 Marketing, BMCP908 Accounting -Bookkeeping Principles, BMCP910 Financial Planning & Cash Management, BMCP912 Preparing a Business Plan) and
  • any 5 additional BMCP Weekend College Modules

 

3. Business Management Certificate - Human Resource Management

  • 5 compulsory BMCP Modules (BMCP903 Organizational Behaviour, BMCP905 Business Law, BMCP909 Human Resource Management, BMCP911 Employee & Labor Relations, BMCP917 Introduction to Payroll Processing and
  • any 5 additional BMCP Weekend College Modules or SDC Modules (SDC414 recommended)

 

Note: Completion of any ten modules is required to earn a Business Management Certificate.  A second Business Management Certificate can be earned by completing an additional five BMCP courses.

 

Be sure to submit your Request for Certification at the Registrar’s Office when you have completed your program.
