Operations Manger, NAIT Shell Manufacturing Centre
Mave gained 15 years of project engineering and manufacturing experience in the UK and Eastern Canada before joining NAIT.
During his last 28 years at NAIT he has worked as an Instructor & Program Chair in the Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering Technology program, as Quality Coordinator in the Present’s Office, as Program Design Specialist in the Dean’s Office, and as a Program Consultant for overseas projects in Ecuador and China, on behalf of NAIT, the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC) and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
In addition to his role as the Operations Manager, NAIT Shell Manufacturing Centre, he regularly facilitates workshops through the Productivity Enhancement Services Unit for business and industry in continuous improvement, project leadership, project management, quality management, lean manufacturing, and group facilitation skills etc. Approx 400 managers are registered in these programs at any given time and return to NAIT every third week throughout the year.
He is strongly committed to promoting provincial and national productivity initiatives. In that regard, he was the co-founder and Chair of the Quality Council of Alberta (QCA), NAIT’s Quality Council, and the National Quality Network (NQN) that led to the creation of the National Quality Institute (NQI), and served on the Mayor’s Task Force on Manufacturing to help improve Greater Edmonton Region’s Manufacturing Productivity. In 1989 he authored the first proposal to create a Manufacturing Centre at NAIT that would assist organizations with their productivity improvement efforts.
Dan Racette, Technologist, Manufacturing Solutions, NAIT Shell Manufacturing Centre.
Dan is an ASET Certified CAD/CAM Engineering Technologist. Before coming to NAIT, he worked as a specialist in 3D modeling and drafting for several years in civil/structural and construction engineering in both the architectural and industrial sectors. Dan has also worked in fabrication and production environments designing lift attachments and overhead cranes. Since joining the Centre, Dan has been active in mechanical design and prototype development, including design/drawing, rapid prototyping, laser cutting, and robotic welding roles.
In addition to his Engineering Technology certification, Dan holds a B.A. Degree from the University of Saskatchewan, and is currently studying part-time in NAIT's Bachelor of Technology Degree program.
Ryan Mussbacher, Project Assistant, Productivity Enhancement Services, NAIT Shell Manufacturing Centre.
Ryan is a proud NAIT alumnus with a background in Retail Management. He has 5 years of experience in large format retailing, where he rose through the ranks to become an Assistant General Manager. He was also one of four people chosen for a team to move into a failing store, and restore its profitability again, which was accomplished in half the time projected.
Ryan has lead many projects and initiatives in a retail environment including a mass book signings which included world renowned authors. Ryan was also recognized for his contributions to the company by the CEO, as well as recognized as one of the top two managers in the region two years in a row.
Ryan is currently working on attaining his Project Management Certificate at NAIT with a PMP designation in his sights for the future.
