Productivity Enhancement Training programs are designed as an affordable solution to help you advance your career. The individual courses are typically offered during the weekends, keeping in mind that most of the participants are busy, working professionals. You have the opportunity to learn from our experts with significant real-world experience and network with a classroom of your peers from other organizations.

Build your leadership and people skills in this interactive program. Many projects or project teams suffer from a lack of people skills, including leadership.
By the end of the program, you will know how to manage meetings effectively, identify communication barriers, form successful teams and apply appropriate leadership skills. In addition, you will be able to apply conflict management strategies, use project management software, manage productivity improvement processes and prepare project action plans.
Required courses for program completion:
The PMC program was developed with input from industry professionals, the Project Management Institute – Northern Alberta Chapter, and advisory committees with representation from industries where project management expertise is in demand. NAIT is a PMI accredited Global Registered Education Provider and PMC graduates are well positioned to subsequently achieve certification as Project Management Professionals (PMP). The PMC program also provides transferability to degree programs.

Within the manufacturing industry, there is exceptional earning potential for those who have Fluid Power Certification. A new six-module program has been developed by NAIT in cooperation with representatives from the Fluid Power industry. Most courses consist of 28 hours of instruction, approximately 50% lecture format and 50% hands-on lab.

Learn how to become a more effective communicator, leader and negotiator. You will be provided with hands-on practice with facilitation tools required to help groups achieve results, to facilitate effective meetings, work with ideas and improvement charters, interpret and present numbers and know when and how to respond to variances, understand team stages and learn how to lead teams and enhance group synergy.

Think lean, think world class manufacturing! Called Just In Time (JIT), World Class or Agile Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing encompasses total quality management, continuous improvement, zero defects, and doing things right the first time, every time. You will learn a wide range of skills and techniques that are directly applicable to world-class manufacturing, including kaizen events, value stream mapping, 5S and one-piece flow.

Experience the challenging world of machine shop inspection and calibration. You will learn to properly select and calibrate measuring instruments and measure precise work, as typically carried out in a manufacturer’s standards room or inspection department. Additionally, you will learn the range of measuring concepts and mathematics used in the standards room environment, and will receive practical, hands-on experience.

Today’s leaders must be increasingly aware of occupational health and safety (OHS) legislation and best practices in workplace health and safety. You will use knowledge and skills gained from this program to develop a site-specific health and safety management system by choosing a work area, identifying the existing hazards and the controls that you will be implementing. From this process you will then develop an inspection program and an area-specific orientation and training program.

Develop your skills and knowledge about all aspects of Operations Management and get to know the many relationships between Operations Management and Project Management. Operations Management encompasses the day-to-day activities of any type of company. You will learn a wide variety of skills and techniques related to different parts of the operations function, including: supervision and operations management, forecasting for production, scheduling, capacity planning and inventory control.

Rapid increase of laser cutting within the Manufacturing industry has led to a high demand for skilled operators for these machines. In order to address this need, NAIT, in consultation with industry, has developed a Laser Cutting Operator (LCO) certificate program. The program consists of four 14-hour modules. Each module includes approximately 50 percent lecture and 50 percent practice in a lab setting. Initially, the program will be offered on weekends but can also be delivered during the week to meet client needs.

Welding robots have been in general use in the manufacturing industry since the early 1980’s. As these robots continue to gain industry acceptance, the need for trained operators continues to grow.
To meet this growing need, NAIT has developed a Welding Automations Certificate (WAC) Program. Individuals possessing a sound knowledge of manual welding processes can gain experience in robotic arc welding. The program consists of four 14-hour modules. Each module includes approximately 50 percent lecture and approximately 50 percent practice in a lab setting. Initially, the program will be offered on weekends but can also be delivered during the week to meet client needs.
