Part-Time Learner Skills Investment Bursary (SIB) Application Process
1. Choose a program or course(s).
Decide on the courses you wish to take. You can take 1 or 2 courses at one time to be considered for the SIB funding at NAIT. If you require assistance to determine which best suits your needs and/or helps you reach your employment goal you can contact the Academic Upgrading, English as an Additional Language (EAL) or Student Recruitment departments to get the guidance you need. 2. Determine eligibility
Review Human Services eligibility criteria and complete the online estimator to determine if you qualify.
Please note: If you are receiving Employment Insurance it is recommended you discuss your part-time training with Service Canada prior to attending school.
3. Speak to a Financial Aid Specialist.
Come into NAIT Financial Aid to meet with a Financial Aid Specialist during Drop Ins and pick up the application, or print off the online Part-Time application and paperwork and bring it with you to your appointment.
Please note: Applications without a referral from NAIT Financial Aid will not be approved for funding.
4. Submit the paperwork.
Drop off your completed documentation to the Financial Aid office for your recommendation to training and to have the application sent to Human Services for processing.
Please note: Incomplete application packages will not be accepted.
Step 5: Receive decision letter.
Processing for PT SIB Applications can take up to 8 weeks. Once processed, a letter will be sent to the student outline their eligible award. You are welcome to meet with a Financial Aid Specialist to review this letter if you have any questions however appeals will be sent through Human Services (Alberta Works). Tuition money will be sent directly to the school and any book, child care or transportation money will be sent to the student.
