Fees and Expenses

Refund Policies

Refunds normally take between four to six weeks to process. Payments made by credit card will be refunded to the original credit card; all other original methods of payment will be refunded by cheque.

Locker Rental Fees are non-refundable. Please see Locker Rental for additional information.

Full-time Programs

  • Any student terminated for disciplinary reasons shall be ineligible for a refund of fees.
  • Students who voluntarily withdraw before completing their program of study or reduce their total instructional hours shall receive a refund as indicated below.

Students who withdraw within 5 days from the start of an online course may qualify for a refund as determined by the Registrar's Office, if this withdrawal brings the student below a full time load.

Full-time Programs (International Students)

 

**** Effective for programs starting Fall 2012 ****
 

The following information pertains to NAIT full-time DAY students attending programs under the authorization of a Canadian Study Permit.

  • Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing to AskNAIT@nait.ca or faxed to the Cash Office at 780.471.7452 by the Tuition Payment Deadline noted in your Letter of Acceptance (LOA). Please complete and attach the Refund Request Form for International Student. The payment for tuition and other applicable fees, minus the $250 (CAD) non-refundable Tuition Deposit, will be refunded.
  • If you are unable to attend NAIT and do not notify us by Tuition Payment Deadline noted in your Letter of Acceptance, the payment for the first semester's tuition and other applicable fees, listed on your MyNAIT student portal, will be retained by the institution and will not be refunded.
  • The payment portion that covers subsequent semesters will be refunded.

Apprenticeship Programs

 

Total fees are due and payable at time of enrolment. In all cases a minimum fee of $100 will be withheld should you cancel your enrolment prior to the first day of class. After classes start there will be no refund of fees.

Should you change employers after registering for classes and no longer wish to attend training you, as the apprentice, are the only person able to cancel your trade (unless you have signed an authorization form permitting someone else to act on your behalf).  As per the refund policy above you must do so before classes start and in all cases a minimum fee of $100 will be withheld.

Continuing Education Programs

 

**** Current Refund Policy for Domestic and International Students ****

Additional Information on fee refunds for part-time students is available in the Drop Cancellation Process & Transfer Refund Policy  page, or from the Registrar's Office (phone 471-6248).
Notwithstanding the above refund provisions, NAIT may determine the amount of refund for a student who can establish that he/she has been incorrectly enrolled in any program.

Continuing Education Programs (International Students)

 

**** Effective for programs/courses starting Fall 2012 ****

The following information pertains to NAIT Continuing Education Students attending programs/courses under the authorization of a Canadian Study Permit.

  • Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing to AskNAIT@nait.ca using the Refund Request Form for International Student. The refund deadline is a minimum of 3 full business days prior to the start of the CED program/course. Please refer to your Letter of Acceptance (LOA) for the program/course start dates.
  • The payment for tuition and other applicable fees will be refunded, minus a $250 (CAD) administrative fee plus any additional fees for dropping the course(s).
  • If you are unable to attend NAIT and do not notify us by the refund deadline (a minimum of 3 full calendar days prior to the start of your CED program/course) as noted in your Letter of Acceptance, the $3500 deposit will be retained by the institution and will not refunded.
