Ooks Alumni Hockey Association give back to the community with special scholarship

The OHAA is proud to partner up with Sports Central for the new OHAA
“Community Scholarship” Program in 2009

The Ooks Hockey Alumni Association is continuing the NAIT tradition of community involvement by working closely with the Men’s Hockey Team by creating the “OHAA Community Scholarships”. During the course of the season the Men’s team will be working closely with Sports Central to select a number of underprivileged hockey players from the local community. The NAIT Hockey players will be expected to spend some time in the community speaking with Sports Central Representatives, local hockey coaches, parents and the kids. The players chosen will be eligible to attend the NAIT Summer Hockey School for no charge. These Scholarships will be presented at the Annual Hockey Banquet and Silent Auction February 6th, 2010.

The OHAA will donate $1000 in the summer of 2009 to cover the costs of the camps for the 5 x Community Scholarship recipients. The Community Scholarships will be available for 5 x players again in summer 2010 and increased to 35 x players in the summer of 2011! The OHAA Community Scholarship program will leave a lasting impression for years to come.
