WHAT: Avi Friedman, an architect internationally known for his innovations in the housing industry - in particular the Grow Home and Next Home designs, will be at NAIT this week.
Friedman, a Green Building guru, holds degrees in Architecture and Town Planning from the Israel Institute of Technology, McGill University and the University of Montreal. In 1988, he co-founded the Affordable Homes Program at the McGill School of Architecture, where he currently teaches. His work has appeared in well-known American publications and he is the author of numerous books on housing including: Peeking Through the Key Hole and Sustainable Residential Development.
Friedman is the recipient of numerous awards including the Progressive Architecture Research Award, the J.-Armand-Bombardier Prize for Technological Innovation, and the United Nations World Habitat Award.

3 p.m. – Nexen Theatre - Avi Friedman meets with students to talk about Green Building and how this innovation will impact residential building and community planning in the 21st Century. There will also be time for a Q & A session with students.
6:30 p.m. – Shaw Theatre – Avi Friedman is the keynote speaker at this public event. His speech will focus on the importance of Green Building and Sustainable Housing.
