NAIT has been a self-governing institution since the Government of Alberta transferred governance of the Institute to the NAIT Board of Governors in 1982.
The Board of Governors has representation from NAIT staff, students and members of the community. The Board manages and operates NAIT within its mandate.
The Executive Committee acts at the direction given by the Board of Governors. Executive Committee is made up of NAIT's:
- President and CEO
- Vice-President Academic and Provost
- Vice-President Administration and Chief Financial Officer
- Vice-President External Relations and Chief Development Officer
President's Council advises the President on those matters of strategic significance to the operation, resources or affairs of NAIT.
