Long Road Home also nominated for three Rosie awards

A NAIT student-produced documentary on Canadian musician Alfie Zappacosta will make its world premiere on Wednesday, April 20 – National Canadian Film Day.

The screening of Long Road Home takes place at the Garneau’s Metro Cinema, with the 1980s hit maker in attendance. It’s presented by Northwestfest, marking the kickoff off of Edmonton’s annual film, music and digital arts festival.

The documentary was a project for students in the digital cinema stream of NAIT’s Digital Media and IT (DMIT) program, produced under the supervision of Emmy award-winning filmmaker Michael Jorgensen (digital cinema instructor).

Long Road Home has been nominated for three Rosies, Alberta’s annual film and television awards. The nominations include best student production (producer Braden Rooke, DMIT student), best director (Stephanie Volk, DMIT student) and best editor; non-fiction over 30 minutes (Braden Rooke, DMIT student).

Zappacosta’s recording and acting career has spanned 40 years. In 1987, he wrote and sang “Overload” for the Dirty Dancing soundtrack and in 1988 received a Juno for Album of the Year and an American Music Award for Most Popular Album of the Year.
