Free summer kids’ camps for recent refugees and Fort McMurray evacuees

Posted: June 24, 2016

Young refugees and Fort McMurray evacuees can attend summer camp at NAIT this year for free.

With support from The Butler Foundation, NAIT is opening up spots in some of its most popular kids’ camps for children who have been displaced. Lunch and camp fees will be covered for recent refugees and Fort McMurray residents with proof of status at time of registration.

Spots are available in two camps: mini Ooks and NAIT’s multi-sports camps.

The mini Ooks camp is for children 5 to 8 years old. Activities in the week-long camp include swimming, indoor/outdoor games and arts and crafts. Kids 9 to 12 can enrol in multi-sport camps. Participants get a chance to play 3-on-3 basketball, volleyball, football, soccer, go swimming and more.

Campers are encouraged to participate in all activities but will also be given the opportunity to opt out if they choose. Camps are limited to one per eligible child. They run weekly July 4 to Aug. 5.

To register and inquire about available spots call 780.471.7713.
