Retired NAIT Business instructor heads to Mexico to build homes and feed the poor
A retired NAIT Business Instructor is heading to Mexico this weekend to help build homes and feed poor families. Sharron Lewis and other members of her church are loading a bus this weekend to prepare for the trip. The bus will be stuffed with 900 blankets, 144 soccer balls, 600 packs of crayons, 600 colouring books, and tons of play dough, Frisbees and double dutch skipping ropes. The bus will be loaded this Sunday, June 24th from 4-5 p.m. in the parking lot of the St. Albert Evangelical Lutheran Church at 11 Glenview Crescent. For more information about this story, you can contact the church directly at 458-6012 (someone will be there Sunday afternoon). On site on Sunday, you can ask for either Sharron Lewis or Bryan Grundberg. Background information: Sharron Lewis will be in Mexico for eight weeks to act as co-ordinator for her church’s activities there. She will buy food in Mexico and pack 120 bags of food for each of the six migrant workers camps they visit – that’s 720 bags of food in total. Each bag will feed a family for one week. Her church group will build a total of eight houses as well as one church or sanctuary for the community of Paradise Valley. To arrange an interview with Sharron Lewis, please contact Raquel Maurier, NAIT Media Relations Specialist, at 471-8447 or via e-mail at raquelm@nait.ca
