NAIT staff and students “Share the Warmth”
WHAT: NAIT staff members are helping retired instructor Gordon Smith continue his annual tradition of collecting warm clothing for the less fortunate. Smith started a donation campaign years ago in which he organized a year-long collection of socks that were then donated to the Boyle Street McCauley Health foot Clinic – hundreds of pairs of socks would be donated each year.
Four years ago, after Smith retired, The NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) expanded the donation campaign to include mittens, toques and scarves. Hundreds of items are collected each year and then donated to various local charities – the Elizabeth Fry Society, Hope Mission and the Boyle McCauley Health Centre. Staff and students at NAIT continue to show their community spirit by helping support this annual campaign. Donation boxes have been set up around campus for weeks.
