NAIT named one of Alberta’s Top 55 Employers for 2012
NAIT has been recognized as one of Alberta’s Top 55 Employers for its commitment to its employees.
“I am proud of this recognition because it reflects what NAIT is, and what matters,” said NAIT President and CEO, Dr. Glenn Feltham. “NAIT is a truly outstanding workplace.”
Alberta’s Top Employers is an annual competition that recognizes employers that offer exceptional places to work. It’s organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.
The judges offered a number of reasons for selecting NAIT as a one of Alberta’s Top 55 Employers for 2012.
They noted NAIT invests in ongoing employee development with subsidies for tuition and professional accreditation, financial bonuses for some course completion and a range of in-house and online training programs.
The judges highlighted the fact NAIT supports employees who are new mothers with maternity leave top-up payments (to 95% of salary for 16 weeks) and offers flexible work arrangements when they are ready to return.
As well, it was noted NAIT helps employees prepare for life after work with retirement planning assistance and phased-in work options, as well as generous contributions to a defined benefit pension plan (up to 13% of salary).
Employers were evaluated in eight key areas: physical workplace, work & social atmospheres, health, financial & family benefits, vacation & time off, employee communications, performance management, training & skills development and community involvement.
“At NAIT, people matter,” said Feltham. “We are all passionate about NAIT, our students and each other. And we celebrate together – because there is so much to celebrate. It’s the NAIT way.”
NAIT is one of Canada’s leading polytechnics, with almost 80,000 registrations worldwide in key areas including science, technology and the environment, business, health care and trades.
