Celebrity Chef Massimo Capra named NAIT’s 2012 Hokanson Chef in Residence
Celebrity Chef Massimo Capra will be bringing his passion for life and all things gastronomical to NAIT in March as the 2012 Hokanson Chef in Residence. The program provides students in the School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts with a rare opportunity to learn first-hand from the best chefs in the world.
“The goal of the Hokanson Chef in Residence program is to expose students to innovative cooking techniques and diverse culinary trends and styles,” said Perry Michetti, associate dean of the School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts. “Chef Massimo Capra will be a great addition to this program. We are excited for him to share his experience and knowledge, and in turn inspire students, faculty and the culinary community.”
Massimo is the chef and co-owner of Toronto’s Mistura Restaurant and Sopra Upper Lounge. He is also an award-winning author and television host, perhaps best known for his appearances on Food Network’s Restaurant Makeover.
To celebrate this year’s week-long chef in residency, NAIT is giving away four pairs of tickets to “Mangia with Massimo” – an exclusive luncheon being held Thursday, March 22 in NAIT’s Ernest’s dining room, where Capra will be working with the students to prepare a three-course luncheon featuring his recipes. In addition, winners will receive a signed copy of Massimo Capra’s cooperative CityLine cookbook 3 Chefs – The Kitchen Men. The Hokanson Chef in Residence program kicked off with Canadian celebrity chef Rob Feenie in February 2009, followed by David Adjey in March 2010 and Susur Lee in March 2011. The program was made possible as a result of a generous donation from John and Susan Hokanson.
