President of AMAN Building Corporation recognized as a Distinguished Friend of the Institute
Shiraz Jiwani, president and owner of Sherwood Park-based AMAN Building Corporation, has been named NAIT’s 2011 Distinguished Friend of the Institute. The prestigious award will presented to Jiwani by James Cumming, chair of NAIT’s board of governors and Dr. Glenn Feltham, NAIT president and CEO.
“AMAN Building Corporation is a community-focused company committed not only to its clients and employees, but also to helping charities and supporting community events,” said Feltham. “For this, and for his company’s generous support of NAIT, we are honoured to recognize Mr. Jiwani as a Distinguished Friend of the Institute.”
Potential candidates for the Distinguished Friend of the Institute award are individuals or organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to the welfare and advancement of NAIT through volunteer services, endowments or other activities that benefit the institute.
AMAM Building Corporation has invested in NAIT’s planned Centre for Applied Technologies, the Centre for Culinary Arts and other annual projects which support student success.
“It is a real honour for me to be receiving this award,” said Jiwani. “I have always believed strongly in education and in community involvement so I am humbled at the idea of being recognized by a well-recognized and respected local institution that has helped produce great colleagues in the construction industry as well as other technical and applied educational fields.”
Founded by Jiwani in 1985, AMAM Building Corporation is a local leader in general contracting, construction management and design build services for a wide variety of projects, including:
• educational projects
• recreation centres
• commercial building
NAIT has been selecting a Distinguished Friend of the Institute every year since 1985. Jiwani joins 40 past recipients, who have been honoured with a plaque on the Distinguished Friends of the Institute Wall, located in Building O on Main Campus, just outside the executive offices.
