Engineering success in education from A to Zedi
Zedi Inc. is supporting engineering programs at NAIT by donating over $50,000 in equipment and establishing $15,000 in scholarships.
Students in NAIT’s Petroleum Engineering Technology and Instrumentation Engineering Technology programs will benefit from Zedi’s in-kind donation of equipment, course content, data and monitoring. Bruce Reinders, chair of the Petroleum Engineering Technology program explains how one particular piece of equipment, the Smart-Skid, will add to students’ experience.
“We are utilizing the Smart-Skid to demonstrate new technology used in metering natural gas flow," Reinders said. "We use it in conjunction with a compressor and gas flow run, and we compare the measurements from the Smart-Skid to existing metering technology. This gives our students experience with the variety of methods currently being used to meter gas in industry.”
Larry Spagnolo, Zedi’s senior vice president of customer solutions, shares his excitement.
“This particular technology was recently used by a leading producer in a unique shallow gas and liquid testing application," he said. "Not only do the working parts lend themselves to the student’s education, but they also teach them to challenge the status quo by creating a creative solution with the technology. It’s this type of learning and thinking that produces real thought leadership in our industry and supports producers in realizing their full production potential.”
Zedi’s donation also establishes $15,000 in scholarships. Over a period of five years, these scholarships will make technical training more accessible to two students in the Petroleum Engineering Program and one student in the Instrumentation Engineering Technology program.
“Zedi has been a great supporter of the program,” Reinders said. “We access some of their online data to help deliver relevant, up-to-date curriculum in the classroom. This collaboration with leading industry partners allows us to continue to offer cutting-edge programming.”
