NAIT names Top 50 alumni of the past 50 years
NAIT, celebrating 50 years of polytechnic education, is proud to announce its Top 50 alumni of the past five decades. The list includes individuals who have made a difference in their respective fields – including CEOs of multi-national corporations, world-renowned health researchers, entrepreneurs, community leaders, an Olympic medallist and more.
“The accomplishments of our Top 50 alumni reflect the quality and relevance of NAIT as a polytechnic,” said NAIT President and CEO, Dr. Glenn Feltham. “I congratulate these alumni and proudly recognize them as NAIT ambassadors.”
The process to select the Top 50 list was lengthy. Last year, the institute put out a call for NAIT grads or retirees who have made significant contributions in the categories of service, leadership, innovation and role model. A committee of alumni, retired staff, instructors, students and NAIT’s departments of Advancement and Marketing and Communications arrived at the final 50.
“It was a challenge whittling the list down to 50,” said Sabrina Giordano, manager of NAIT’s department of Advancement and chair of the selection committee. “The achievements of NAIT graduates are diverse. In the end, these 50 graduates stood out for their remarkable contributions.”
This Top 50 list speaks to the value of a NAIT education, said Feltham. For five decades, NAIT has remained true to its initial vision by providing hands-on education with industry as its partner.
“Looking ahead, NAIT will build on its past achievements by remaining committed to technology-related education and applied research through our four educational pillars: science, technology and the environment, health, trades and business,” said Feltham.
The Top 50 will be honored at a gala event Oct. 25 and featured in a commemorative issue of Techlife, NAIT’s technology lifestyle magazine, available at techlifemag.ca and at racks on all NAIT campuses. Tickets to the NAIT@50 Gala are available to the public.
