High school students will hone their financial decision-making skills at NAIT competition
WHAT: The Finance program at the JR Shaw School of Business will host the second annual High School Case Competition, which this year focuses on financial literacy. Teams of Grade 12 students from Ross Sheppard, St. Francis Xavier and Bellerose Composite high schools will be presented with a case that involves personal finance decisions, like buying a car or paying rent while remaining within a budget. Each team will work against the clock analyzing the scenario and proposing solutions, which must be presented to a panel of judges.
WHERE: NAIT Main Campus
JR Shaw School of Business (Building T on campus map)
WHEN: Saturday, Nov. 17
8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
WHY: This competition is being held during Financial Literacy Month. The students participating will gain knowledge, skills and confidence to make responsible financial decisions. With an on-going consumer debt crisis in Canada, these skills are invaluable. The top performing team wins $1,000, followed by $500 and $250 for second and third place.
