Mechanical engineering students take the mousetrap challenge
WHAT: Second semester Mechanical Engineering Technology students will face off in a unique challenge that puts the engineering principles they have learned into action by designing and building one of two devices powered solely by mousetraps.
Half the students were required to design and build devices capable of climbing a vertical string suspended to the ceiling. The other students were required to design and build devices capable of lifting a puck 50 millimeters out of a hole and then transporting it a maximum distance. How these tasks were accomplished was completely up to the students.

WHY: About 80 students will participate in the challenge, where their designs will be put to the test. Teams consist of three to four members. In addition to photo ops, the competitors will be available for interviews.
