Equipment donated to Instrumentation students
Cameron’s Measurement Systems division, a worldwide provider of flow equipment has contributed over $165,000 worth of equipment to NAIT’s Instrumentation programs. The equipment develops students’ ability to use a variety of equipment, including differential pressure products, turbines, flow totalizers and flow computers.
Andy van der Veen, chair of the Instrumentation programs emphasizes the value of Cameron’s Measurement Systems’ contribution to instructors and students at NAIT.
“The donation of this equipment means that Instrumentation students and apprentices will be working with up-to-date equipment frequently used by industry,” said van der Veen. “Through this hands-on experience, students integrate what they learn in the program and put it to use in the workplace.”
With two educational pathways into the instrumentation field, NAIT accommodates technologists and apprentices who have become increasingly in demand in Alberta. Instrumentation Engineering Technology teaches students the practical skills and theory to measure and control industrial processes, such as pressure, temperature and flow. The Instrument Technician program trains apprentices to install, maintain and repair instruments for measurement and control.
“NAIT is recognized as a leader in graduating highly skilled instrumentation technicians who can step in and contribute immediately to the oil and gas industry in western Canada,” said Larry Styre, director sales Canada at Cameron Measurement Systems. “Cameron Measurement Systems in Canada is honored and privileged to donate our products to NAIT’s Instrumentation programs. We will continue to support and provide students with leading edge flow measurement technology in the future.”
Last year at NAIT, enrolment was at capacity, training 451 Instrument Technician apprentices and 290 Instrumentation Engineering Technology students. Through support from partners like Cameron’s Measurement Systems division, NAIT’s graduates are equipped with job-ready skills to contribute to work sites in the construction, utility, manufacturing, oil and gas, and petrochemical industries.

About Cameron
Cameron is a leading provider of flow equipment products, systems and services to worldwide oil, gas and process industries. Cameron’s Measurement Systems division designs, manufactures and distributes instrumentation used in the measurement and control of flow, pressure, level and temperature. FLO was acquired in 2005 to expand Cameron's range of offerings to this critical step in the flow of produced goods. Since, other significant acquisitions in ultrasonic measurement and product sampling and blending technologies have further expanded FLO's capabilities to satisfy our customer's needs to understand the volumes and content of goods produced.
