TD Bank Group supports NAIT students with $300,000 gift
TD Bank Group today announced a $300,000 gift to support NAIT student success and campus expansion. The funds will be used to help build, equip and operate the Centre for Applied Technologies, the largest capital project in NAIT’s history.
“We are grateful for this generous donation from TD,” said NAIT Provost and Vice-President Academic Dr. Neil Fassina. “The Centre for Applied Technologies will be the new front door to NAIT, enriching the learning experience of 5,000 full-time students every day. When complete in 2016, it will be one of the largest simulation and applied learning facilities in Canada.”
The Centre will allow NAIT to increase enrolment by 50 per cent in health, business and environment management programs, supporting NAIT’s vision to be one of the world’s leading polytechnics and helping Alberta meet its need for a highly skilled workforce.
“We are proud to support NAIT in its vision to bolster the development of the skilled labour sector in Alberta and drive the provincial economy,” said Greg Harris, District Vice President, Edmonton, TD Bank Group. "At TD, we feel it's important to give back to organizations that make a difference and strengthen our communities."
In recognition of this gift, a classroom in the NAIT Centre for Sustainable Energy Technology has been named the TD Bank Group Classroom. The building is home to NAIT’s two-year Alternative Energy Technology program. Students receive hands-on and design experience with a variety of energy systems, including solar photovoltaics, solar thermal, geothermal, wind and more.
Last month, NAIT publicly launched the largest fundraising initiative in its history. The goal of Essential: The NAIT Campaign is to raise $100 million in support of student success, applied research and the Centre for Applied Technologies.
The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) is a leading Canadian polytechnic, delivering education in science, technology and the environment; business; health and trades. With more than 60,000 credit and non-credit students and a 98 per cent employer satisfaction rate, NAIT grads are essential to Alberta’s prosperity. Known for hands-on, technology-based learning, NAIT engages with business and industry in applied research and innovation and provides corporate training around the world. Recognized as one of Alberta’s top employers, NAIT provides outstanding returns on investment for its graduates, partners, the provincial government and the people of Alberta.
