NAIT community collects warm clothing items for less fortunate
Retired instructor Gordon Smith started ‘Sock It To Me Brother’ years ago, organizing a year-long collection of socks. Later, the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) expanded the campaign to include gloves, toques and scarves, becoming Share the Warmth. More than 1,000 items and thousands of dollars are now collected annually, thanks to the support and generosity of NAIT staff, students and the community.
This year, the warm clothing items will be donated to the Boyle McCauley Health Centre’s foot care clinic, Bissell Centre, Hope Mission and the Elizabeth Fry Society of Edmonton, just in time for Christmas. Share the Warmth corporate sponsors include MBS Insurance Brokers Ltd., and imagewear – a division of Mark’s.
