NAIT students to shoot documentary about Dirty Dancing hit-maker Alfie Zappacosta
NAIT Digital Cinema Production students will be producing a concert documentary about the life of local musician Alfie Zappacosta as the capstone project for their Digital Media and IT program. They will be shooting his Feb. 19 and 21 concerts at Festival Place in Sherwood Park to create a feature-length documentary under the supervision of their instructor, Emmy award-winning filmmaker Michael Jorgensen.
Media are invited to meet the students and Alfie Zappacosta, who will be rehearsing in the NAIT studio with his musicians and back-up singers, to talk about this exciting project.
Zappacosta is one of Canada’s premier songwriters and performers with chart-topping hits and a recording and acting career that has spanned 40 years. In 1987, he wrote and sang “Overload” for the Dirty Dancing soundtrack and in 1988 received a JUNO for Album of the Year and an American Music Award for Most Popular Album of the Year.
