The NAIT Department of Athletics and Recreation would like to thank men’s hockey coach Serge Lajoie for his time at NAIT. Lajoie, who accepted the head coaching position at the University of Alberta yesterday, had been the NAIT head coach since 2010.

Lajoie posted a regular season record of 108 wins, 28 losses, four overtime losses, and eight ties in his five years behind the bench with the Ooks. His playoff record was 18 wins and nine losses. Lajoie also captured the ACAC Men’s Hockey Coach of the Year award twice during his tenure at NAIT (2015 & 2014).
Lajoie, who spent five seasons as an assistant coach with the University of Alberta, also played for the Golden Bears for five seasons under Clare Drake and Billy Moores. Lajoieplayed junior hockey with the Kamloops Blazers (WHL) and the St. Albert Saints (AJHL) before concluding his playing career with Germany's EC Bad Nauheim in 1998. As a member of the Golden Bears, Lajoie won a championship as a player in 1992 and two championships as an assistant coach in 2006 and 2008.
