NAIT Protective Services is a protective, investigative and enforcement service whose area of responsibility encompasses all properties under control of NAIT’s board of governors. NAIT Protective Services is headed by the Superintendant of Protective Services, who is assisted by the Inspector of Protective Services. There are 4 sergeants who are supported by 18 front line officers and 4 communication officers.
After years of maintaining contract security services, the department officially changed to a peace officer service in 2009 comprised of peace officers and communications officers. In 2011, we changed our name from Campus Security Services to NAIT Protective Services to more accurately reflect our mandate and the service we provide to our community.
Our service assists over 90,000 students and staff over 4 major sites and various leased spaces within the metro Edmonton area. NAIT Protective Services adheres to a philosophy of community-based policing.
NAIT Protective Services governs its operations according to Institute policy, the needs of the board, the executive and applicable municipal, provincial and federal legislative authority.
