Patrol Positions

 
Basic Requirements
  • Minimum age of 18 years old.
  • Possess excellent oral and written skills.
  • Experience working within a post-secondary environment is not required, but preferred.
  • Computer experience with Microsoft Windows based systems and Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification plus university or related college degree; policing or security diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution, previous Police experience or a minimum of 5 years related Security experience.
  • Be eligible to attain Level 1 - Community Peace Officer Status within the Province of Alberta.
  • Have a Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License with no more than six demerits.
  • Medical and Vision Evaluations.
  • Standard First Aid, Level C CPR and AED certification.
  • Be physically fit and able to pass the Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) with a minimum passing score at or under four minutes and forty five seconds. (4:45)
  • Current and valid training and certification as a Level 1 - Community Peace Officer is preferred.
Application Process

1. All applications must include all of the following documents:

  • NAIT Protective Services Application Form
  • Consent for Collection of Information Form
  • Cover Letter and Resume
  • Three Letters of Reference plus full employment history for past 10 Years (or up to age 16) including addresses, dates, and contact information
  • Photocopy of related training completed (prior Level 1 - Peace Officer training is preferred)
  • Photocopy of valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License and Alberta Driver’s Abstract (within one month and no more than 6 demerits).
  • Copy of valid Standard First Aid, Level “C” CPR certification, and AED certification
  • Police Security Clearance Letter (must be obtained upon offer of employment or no more than 90 days prior)
  • Completed Vision Report
  • Completed Report of Medical Clearance or proof of successful completion of PARE within past 6 months.

2. Board Interview.  All documentation (except Police Security Clearance) must be submitted by this time.
3. Written Essay.
4. Fitness Appraisal (PARE Test).
5. Behavioral Analysis.
6. Background Check.
7. Selection and Offer of Employment.

Those who have recently graduated from a university or college program will be required to provide proof of academic achievement if selected for employment.  Applicants who are currently Level 1 Community Peace Officers will be required to show proof of valid certifications.

Communications Positions

  • Be eligible to attain Level 2 - Community Peace Officer Status within the Province of Alberta.

Full-time Security Communications Officer position

  • As of June 26, 2011:  $1538.88 - $1988.76 bi-weekly (8 step pay scale @ 40 hours per week) plus shift differential, weekend premium, and benefits.  We are not currently accepting applications for this position.

Full-time Community Peace Officer position

  • As of June 26, 2011:  $2068.00 - $2677.90 bi-weekly (8 step pay scale @ 40 hours per week) plus shift differential, weekend premium, and benefits.  We ARE currently accepting applications for this position.

Full-time Peace Officer – Sergeant position

  • As of June 26, 2011:  $2564.80 - $3310.72 bi-weekly (8 step pay scale @ 40 hours per week) plus shift differential, weekend premium, and benefits.  We are not currently accepting applications for this position.
