The safety and wellbeing of students, faculty, staff and visitors of NAIT is of primary importance. The Board of Governors is committed to the maintenance of a safe and secure learning and working environment for all members of the NAIT community, and desires that Institute property and equipment be protected. The intended purpose of the information contained in this website is to provide direction during an emergency.

In the event of an emergency NAIT will use the following means to notify students and staff:

Display screens

NAIT has several display screens on Main Campus, as well as one at the main entrance to Souch Campus and in the Patricia Campus cafeteria.  In the event of a serious emergency, the display screens may be used to provide information.

Web

Updates will be posted on the Security website. During a serious emergency, alerts will be posted on the Staff and Student Portals, as well as the NAIT website.

E-mail

Depending on the severity of the emergency, staff will receive an update via e-mail.

Facebook, Twitter

In a serious emergency, NAIT will use the NAIT Security Services group on Facebook and the NAIT account on Twitter to alert staff and students. Facebook and Twitter are available via cellphone, allowing you to receive updates on the go.

NAIT has decided to use the "Security Services" group rather than the NAIT page on Facebook to alert staff and students during an emergency because a group allows us to message you directly.
