Limitation of Liability / Permit Usage
Limitation of Liability
Any motor vehicle parked, operated or driven on the Campus shall be solely at risk of the owner and operator. NAIT shall not be liable for any damages occasioned to any such motor vehicle, the operator, other occupants thereof, or any other person. Owners and operators of motor vehicles must ensure they abide by federal, provincial, and municipal legislation.
Where stalls are rented with electric plug-ins, NAIT will endeavor to maintain reasonable, reliable service when temperatures drop below -10 degrees Celsius. As NAIT is committed to energy conservation, the parking lots, as well as other mechanical systems, are subject to load shedding and cycling. If any damage or inconvenience is occasioned to any motor vehicle being removed or towed away or impounded pursuant to these regulations, neither NAIT nor its servants or agents shall be liable or responsible in any way whatsoever for the damage or inconvenience. Nothing in this paragraph shall affect the liability of any independent contractor carrying out the removal, towing away or impoundment of the vehicle.
Permit Usage
Display of Permit
The permit must be affixed to the rear view mirror or as directed by Parking Services. Failure to display a valid permit will result in a violation.
Lost / Stolen Permit
If you have lost or are unable to display your permit in this manner, it must be reported to Parking Services. Only NAIT permits will be honored. Notes, handwritten or otherwise, are not recognized. Lost or destroyed permits will be replaced at Parking Services (Room O112). An administration fee of $100 will be charged for replacement permits.
Withdrawal of Parking Services
During times of construction, maintenance, and special events, it may be necessary to cancel parking permits. Every effort will be made to provide alternate parking for persons who are displaced.
Refunds
If parking is no longer required, a refund for the unused portion of the parking privileges is available when the permit is returned to Parking Services. Parking permits are not transferrable to another person. Refunds will be subject to an administration fee of $25.
