What SSD can do for you
A range of services are available to NAIT students and prospective students who have documented permanent or temporary disabilities. Depending upon a student's specific disability and individual documentation, services may include:
How are services determined?
The SSD advisor will discuss the appropriate accommodations and services with the student and possibly with the program chair or instructors. The following will be taken into consideration:
When are services implemented?
Some accommondations can take time to organise and put into place. Students are required to meet with an advisor 4-6 months prior to the start of their program. If you are already in your program, you are reminded to book an appointment with an advisor as soon as possible. There will likely be a delay in your services if you see an advisor once you are in classes.
Once you have set up your services you are welcome to come to a drop in session to discuss any adjustments you might need.
Services will need to be set up for each year of your studies. If you are continuing on to another program, or are moving on to another year in your program, please book an appointment with an advisor 4-6 months prior to the start of your new academic year.
