About SSD

Students with disabilities who succeed in a post-secondary setting are those who are persistent and find ways to maximize their strengths. At NAIT, experienced Services for Students with Disabilities professionals coordinate the provision of individualized accommodation to students who have disabilities. Our goal is to provide access to supports, information, and resources that enable you to succeed to the maximum of your potential.

We work with you to develop and implement a support plan to meet your individual learning and participation needs.

When to contact us

Note: It is important to start the process of accessing SSD support early:

• If you are already a NAIT student, contact us right after your final exams to set up your services for the next school year.
  
• If you starting an apprenticeship program, contact us early before your next apprenticeship training session starts (4-6 months ahead of time is best).
  
• If you are a new full-time or part-time student, contact us 4-6 months before the first day of class each year of your studies. 

Every year you study at NAIT, meet with an SSD Advisor to discuss the nature of your disability and the supports available to you for the coming year. If you are interested in receiving services, please contact us or visit our office to fill out a Request For Services form and we will have an advisor contact you. After an appointment has been set up, please bring any available documentation that supports your application for SSD services and accommodations.  

You can apply for SSD supports any time during your studies. For maximum benefit, do it sooner rather than later every year you are at NAIT.
