In response to stakeholder, staff and student feedback, the MLT Program applied for NAIT Academic Development Funds to assist the program in performing a curriculum review. Feedback from staff and students has indicated that the stresses involved in delivering the program have increased due to the recent changes resulting from a new competency profile for the profession.
On August 21, a full day workshop involving staff in the MLT program was facilitated by a Department of Teaching and Academic Development (DTAD) Consultant. This workshop included discussions around the curriculum in each course and how the curriculum relates to the professional competency profile. This data was summarized and is being reviewed to identify overlaps in curriculum delivery, sequencing concerns, student evaluation processes/frequency and possible alternative modes of delivery. A team from DTAD will be working closely with the coordinator to facilitate this project. Stakeholders, staff and students will be solicited for their input at various stages in this process.
