FPInnovations is the largest forest research organization in the world. It represents the integration of the previous organizations – Forintek, Feric, Paprican and the addition of CFS Canadian Wood Fibre Centre. FPInnovations has an extensive membership base of forest industry companies, government agencies and equipment manufacturers in Alberta and Canada. Visit the FPInnovations website.
A non-profit business established by forest stakeholders in May 2001, Woodland Operations Learning Foundation develops and delivers training to individuals and companies involved in forest harvest operations in western Canada. Located 20 kilometres north of Peace River, Alberta, the Weberville Community Model Forest lies on privately owned and forested Crown land. Launched as a pilot project in 2008, it quickly gained attention and support from stakeholders in industry, government and municipalities, and from NGOs who shared a common vision for sustainable management of the local area. Within a year, management of the Weberville Community Forest project was transferred to the landowners themselves. The Weberville Community Forest Association put forward a community-driven, landscape-level forest management approach to enhance economical and social benefits through landowner collaboration.
