As H1N1 continues to circulate in the community and with a possible third wave of the flu virus, Occupational Health & Safety would like to remind staff and students of the need to report flu-related absences each day.
We are asking staff to report their flu-related absences to their supervisor, and students to report their flu-related absences to their program assistant.
Every program and department is responsible for reporting flu-related absences in their program and department through the online reporting system at www.nait.ca/h1n1reporting before 5 p.m. daily. If you have zero absences, enter 0. The system will only allow each area to report once a day.
Staff and students who have flu-like symptoms should stay home from work or school for seven days after symptoms begin or until well enough to resume normal activities, whichever is shorter.
NAIT’s response to pandemic influenza is based on the total number of absences due to flu-like illness, which means we need to know on a daily basis how many staff and students are off sick with flu-like illness – whether you are diagnosed with H1N1 or you self-diagnose with the flu.
If you have any questions about reporting flu-related absences, please contact Lawrence LeMesurier.
With your help we may be able to make a difference in controlling how the virus spreads at NAIT.
That practising other good health habits keeps your body strong so it can fight infection. Eat a well balanced diet, exercise regularly, manage your stress and get plenty of rest.
