NAIT students are eligible for junior membership in the CCF, which allows them to participate in a number of junior-only culinary workshops throughout the year. Junior members are also eligible to sit on the Edmonton CCF Board of Directors as junior representatives. (These positions are currently held by a NAIT student and a NAIT grad.)
“Affiliation with a professional organization like the CCF positions students for success,” says Perry Michetti, Associate Dean of NAIT’s School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts. “Membership provides an opportunity to network and socialize with peers and mentors. Additional perks include career connections and potential involvement in culinary competitions.”
The CCF and NAIT have a long-standing relationship. The CCF provides scholarships for NAIT students, and NAIT administers the CCF’s prestigious Certified Chef De Cuisine program. The CCF also sponsors the High School Culinary Challenge, hosted in NAIT’s kitchens.
The CCF is committed to community events, and recently celebrated International Chef’s Day by cooking lunch at the Boyle Street Community Centre, an inner-city agency for the homeless. CCF membership includes chefs, cooks, apprentices, culinary arts students, educators and business associates. Junior membership is exclusively for students, apprentices and novice culinarians.
