1. How do I become a member of Team NAIT?
Instructors choose members of Team NAIT based on:

• skill
• creativity
• attitude
• desire
• dedication
• participation
• ability to work in a team environment

The number of students chosen varies each year, and team members are expected to work fundraising events.

2. What are the benefits?
Members of Team NAIT have a variety of exciting opportunities, including:

• exposure to the latest trends in food, wine and service
• networking and relationship building with high-profile chefs from around the world
• travelling and experiencing new and different cultures and their food
• international job opportunities

3. What type of events could I be involved in?
In addition to competing in regional, national and international events, members of Team NAIT:

• conduct and attend culinary seminars
• volunteer in various community events
• participate in food and wine tasting and pairing
• prepare and practice for competition

Team members also participate in fundraising events, including high-profile dinners.

4. What is the time commitment?
In general, team members can expect to spend an additional 2–10 hours per week over and above classroom time. The actual time spent depends on the practice and fundraising schedule. More hours may also be required before major competitions.

5. How long can I participate as a student?
Students can compete with the team for up to 2 years after graduation, or until they finish their journeyman requirements.

6. Is there an age limit for team members?
While Team NAIT members can be any age, some student competitions require that competitors be under the age of 25 at the time of competition.
