Accreditation and Industry Certification
The BBA is accredited by Alberta Advanced Education and was approved by the Campus Alberta Quality Council. Many of the courses in the BBA curriculum are accepted as exemptions or pre-requisites in professional accounting, finance and human resource management credential programs such as CPA, CFP, CSC and LLQP. The BBA management emphasis is accredited by the Canadian Institute of Management. The BBA finance emphasis has been accepted into the CFA Institute University Recognition Program. This status is granted to institutions whose degree programs incorporate at least 70% of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK), which provides students with a solid grounding in the CBOK and positions them well to sit for the CFA exams.
JR Shaw School of Business also offers applied degrees in Accounting and Finance. Applied degrees blend regular classes and approved paid work experience placements (directed field studies). During directed field studies, students continue to complete research papers, critiques and case studies.
Applied degrees provide graduates with the advanced expertise and management skills they require to supervise staff and succeed in the demanding field of financial management.
