Get more out of your business education with a baccalaureate or applied degree from the JR Shaw School of Business. As many professional associations require a degree before they will grant a designation, a business degree is a great way to further your career potential.
All degrees are 4-year programs. Students earn a business diploma in the first 2 years and complete the degree requirements in the next 2 years. Business diploma grads from other schools can enter degree programs in Year 3.
JR Shaw School of Business' Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree provides more than just an in-depth business education. BBA students are also trained to use and manage leading software applications and processes that enhance business productivity.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP)
- Canadian Securities Course (CSC)
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
- Certified Sales Professional (CSP)
BBA graduates also meet the entrance requirements of a range of graduate programs in business, law and the social sciences.
NAIT's BBA degree can be taken full-time, part-time and online.
Are you a mature student who is unsure of whether or not you will be successful in a degree program? If so, Open Studies may be your solution. As an Open Studies student, you will be given the opportunity to take up to 3 courses per term for both the Fall and Winter terms without having to apply to the program. If you find at the end of the Fall/Winter term that you would like to continue with your studies, only then will you be required to apply and pay the application fee. Eligible courses taken prior to admission will be recognized toward your BBA degree.
Accreditation and Industry Certification
The BBA is accredited by Alberta Advanced Education and Technology and was approved by the Campus Alberta Quality Council. The BBA has been approved by the CA School of Business (CASB), Certified General Accountants of Alberta (CGAs) and the Certified Management Accountants of Alberta (CMAs) as meeting the degree standards and requirements for their professional designation and development programs. Accordingly, many of the courses in the BBA curriculum are accepted as exemptions or pre-requisites in professional accounting, finance and human resource management designation programs including the CA, CMA, CGA, CFP, CSC and CHRP. In the spring of 2010, the BBA management emphasis was accredited by the Canadian Institute of Management.
JR Shaw School of Business also offers applied degrees in accounting and finance. Applied degrees blend regular classes and paid work experience placements (directed field studies). During directed field studies, students continue to complete research papers, critiques and case studies.
