The Respiratory Therapy program has a dedicated lab with equipment designed to respond to 3 age groups – neonatal, pediatric and adult. This equipment includes:
- Industry-standard ventilators and monitoring devices used in hospital wards and Intensive Care Units.
- Airway management equipment, including the new Glidescope, which is used in difficult intubation cases.
- A number of mannequins used to help teach intubation and tracheostomy and to simulate real-life situations like resuscitating a baby in the maternity ward.
- Home care equipment.
- Equipment for diagnostic tests, such as bronchoscopy and pulmonary function.
The Respiratory Therapy program is further rounded out by drawing on the knowledge and equipment of the Emergency Medical Technology – Paramedic program.
