As the country's largest provider of technical and trade-related programs, NAIT is well on its way to becoming the technical institution of choice among Aboriginal students. Our real-world approach to training employs current technologies delivered by industry-experienced instructors.
We recognize that access to our programs and courses can be a hurdle to prospective Aboriginal students, and in 1999, began offering outreach programs to First Nations, Métis and Inuit learners. Today, we continue to increase access to our programs on-site, at NAIT campuses and using our mobile education units, NAIT in Motion (NIMs).
NAIT's expertise goes well beyond our campus classrooms. Community, business and industry leaders look to NAIT to design, develop and deliver customized training to fit their unique needs. Our outreach programs to First Nations, Métis and Inuit learners are designed to meet the unique needs of Aboriginal communities. We can assess you community's needs, tailor our programming around them and bring that programming right to you. Many of our courses and programs can be delivered in Aboriginal communities in Alberta and across Canada, allowing students to access training opportunities without having to relocate to urban centres. We offer capacity-building programs for people who are already employed where students learn new skills for meeting their on-the-job duties and responsibilities, as well as labour market programs for unemployed Aboriginals to train for entry-level positions.
Our programs range from 2-day workshops to full 34-week programs.

Aboriginal Youth Leadership Program
While organizations are investing heavily in staff development and succession planning, it is essential that communities focus on youth leadership development so that we may identify and develop tomorrow’s leaders at an early age and assist them in realizing their full potential. This is especially true for the First Nations communities, as they continue to represent a large, untapped segment of Canadian society.
In order to assist communities in addressing these needs, NAIT, in collaboration with its industry partners, has developed an aboriginal youth leadership program to assist First Nations communities on various levels, leading to benefits such as personal development, student success and employment and community development.
Upgrading and Bridging Programs
NAIT offers upgrading and bridging programs for Aboriginal learners to earn the prerequisites to enter most of NAIT's full-time programs. These programs may be taken at NAIT's main campus or brought to the community. The Pre-technology - Aboriginal program is designed specifically for the unique needs of adult Aboriginal learners.

Full-Time and Apprenticeship Programs
NAIT can also bring full-time and apprenticeship programs that mirror those offered at NAIT's campuses, as well as other technical training, to Aboriginal communities.
