About the Program
International students are eligible to enroll in the Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning Refrigeration Technician (HVACR) program, and are also eligible to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit program (PGWPP). Please note, however, that Alberta apprenticeship is a training program that is limited to Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents of Canada. Temporary visa holders (such as those participating on the PGWPP) do not meet the eligibility requirements and are not able to register through the on-line apprenticeship registration system.
The Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning Refrigeration Technician certificate provides students with entry-level job readiness and partial credit for the first two years of apprenticeship. The goals of the certificate are to provide familiarity with the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration industry and understanding of the operating principles of industry-specific equipment, systems and procedures. You'll be introduced to the theory and equipment in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration industries by studying air flow, controls, blueprint reading and computer software applications.
