How to Apply
International students are eligible to enroll in the Cook program, and are also eligible to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit program (PGWPP). Please note, however, that Alberta apprenticeship is a training program that is limited to Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents of Canada. Temporary visa holders (such as those participating on the PGWPP) do not meet the eligibility requirements and are not able to register through the on-line apprenticeship registration system.
Applying for Apprenticeship Programs
Apprenticeship training is delivered at NAIT Main Campus, NAIT Patricia, and NAIT Souch. Eligibility for apprenticeship training is determined by Apprenticeship and Industry Training, Division of Alberta Enterprise and Advanced Education. Use the information on this page to guide you through the application process.
Step 1: Complete an Apprenticeship Application & Contract Form
Effective November 1st, 2014, you must fillout the application located on the My Tradesecrets website for Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board staff to determine if you are eligible for status as an indentured apprentice.
Step 2: Find Training Start & End Dates
Review the availability and start and end dates of the program you are interested in to determine the schedule that best fits your needs.
Step 3: Register for Training
Register at NAIT, prior to the start of the desired training schedule, by visiting the Registrar’s office, by phone or by submitting your application by fax. Once enrolled, make a note of your NAIT student ID number – you will need it to create a MyNAIT portal account.
Step 4: Create a MyNAIT portal account
Use your NAIT student ID to create your portal login. The student portal is used to access eLetters, print receipts and more.
Step 5: Wait for Registration Confirmation
An eLetter registration confirmation will be sent to your MyNAIT Student Portal account within 24 to 48 hours.
