You want to be a sheet metal worker. You want to fabricate, assemble, install and service various products and equipment using materials such as galvanized iron, black iron, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass PVC and fibreglass.
But you want to learn more, like how to use laser or plasma cutting equipment, numerically-controlled or computerized equipment, and hand or power shears and snips to cut, drill, punch, bend and shape sheet metal. Maybe you want to specialize in the installation and repair of sheet metal products, such as HVAC systems, neon and metal sign equipment, or dairy, brewery and laboratory equipment.
At NAIT, where we’ve been training Sheet Metal Worker apprentices since 1962, we’re here to teach you everything you need to know.
-laying out, measuring and marking dimensions and reference lines on sheet metal according to drawings or templates
-fastening with bolts, screws, cement, rivets, adhesives, solder or by welding
-installing and repairing sheet metal products to conform to specifications and building codes
