Chef in Residence 2014
Chef Lynn Crawford, is a woman of firsts, and during March 2014, she’ll be NAIT’s first female Chef in Residence.
Before entering our homes as a host on The Food Network’s Restaurant Makeover, Crawford was the first woman to hold the position of Executive Chef with the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto and New York. She was there for 24 years.
Then, in 2007, Crawford became the first Canadian woman invited to compete at Kitchen Stadium (America), where she faced Iron Chef, Bobby Flay.
Crawford brings with her an incredible amount of knowledge, experience and passion for food, which she cultivates most recently as the host of Pitchin’ In. The show has been nominated for two Gemini awards and follows Crawford as she visits farmers, growers and fishermen across North America in search of the freshest and best ingredients.
The show inspired Crawford's first and best-selling cookbook, Pitchin' In: More Than 100 Great Recipes From Simple Ingredients. Her second cookbook, At Home with Lynn Crawford, was released in September 2013.
Crawford attended George Brown College’s culinary program, and trained with chefs Alice Waters and Barbara Tropp.
Throughout her illustrious career, Crawford has been the recipient of a number of professional awards
- Ontario Hostelry Institute’s 2012 Chef of the Year
- Chevalier du Fromage
- Thomas Jefferson Award Honoree from The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts
- Consumer’s Choice Business Woman of the Year.
