NAIT strives to provide a healthy and safe community for students, staff, contractors, visitors and members of the public. We support clean air in all our facilities and are pleased to offer a smoke-free learning and work environment.
NAIT’s Smoke-Free Campus policy (pdf) prohibits the following on all NAIT-owned and leased facilities, on NAIT grounds and in NAIT vehicles, as well as in all vehicles on NAIT property.
- E-cigarettes (vaping)
- Chewing tobacco (and similar products, such as snuff)
If you smoke, designated smoking areas are located at the perimeter of campus. These are typically at least 5 metres away from doorways, windows and air intakes and are clearly marked with a cigarette disposal container.
Certain spiritual, ceremonial and religious activities – such as pipe ceremonies and smudges – may be exempt from the restrictions on smoking and smokeless tobacco with prior approval. Contact Protective Services at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
