To obtain the Oil and Gas Process Operator Certificate, students must complete:
- all core courses
- two elective courses
Students must apply for the certificate by completing a Request for Certification form and returning the completed form to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students who complete the certificate are also eligible to apply to the Alberta Boiler Safety Association (ABSA) to write the 4th Class Power Engineering Part A and Part B provincial examinations. The 4th Class Power Engineer’s Certificate of Competency through ABSA requires successful completion of the Part A and Part B exams as well as either an approved boiler lab or 6 months of work experience.

Process Operators work within the upstream and midstream oil and gas industry, operate oil and gas well battery sites, and are involved in pipeline operations and other facilities.
Process and field operators are also employed in processing industries such as petrochemical, fertilizer, natural gas processing, metallurgical, petroleum refining, and food and beverage production. The Certificate combines courses in Power Engineering, Oil and Gas fundamentals, as well as Project Management, and Safety.
