Men's Hockey

November 17, 2009

From one win and five losses to two games over .500 in only three weeks -- that's a remarkable run of success.

The NAIT Ooks extended their ACAC winning streak to six games during the weekend, hammering the Concordia Thunder 4-0 and 6-2 in back-to-back games.

"Our goaltender was a key," Ballard said in praise of Graeme Harrington, who recorded his first ACAC shutout and blocked 77 of 79 shots in the two meetings.

Balance was essential for the Ooks, too. Separate players and separate lines carried the load in different games.

In the shutout victory, Payton Proskuniak, Kevin Reinholt, Steve Pratt and Vince Scott shared the scoring, with Bret Peppler providing a pair of assists.

Jiri Prchazka, Chevan Wilson and Jeff Topilko provided much of the offence in the other half of the twin-bill. Prochazka had two goals and two assists while his linemates each had a goal and two assists. Kyle Johnson and Kyle Teague produced the other goals.

Harrington, who was Ballard's nominee as NAIT athlete of the week, was brilliant in blocking 41 Concordia shots.
